We participated in our 1st Color Run. Matt and I were pretty excited and the kids were curious about how it would all work. The race was at a golf course in the Gold Coast. We arrived in plenty of time and headed to the starting area with our nice white tshirts. The race had such a fun atmosphere. People were dancing, music pumping, girls and guys rocking tutus and colorful socks. As we rounded the 1st corner, we saw a cloud of yellow ahead. With a sprinkle of yellow we continued on to blue. It was crazy all the blue in the air. The volunteers were literally throwing handfuls at the people. We emerged very blue! Next was orange. Then pink. We even saw a couple kangaroos hopping thru the course, probably wondering what was going on. At the end, they handed out color packets as you went into the finishing area. That was a color party! People were ripping them open for one last splash of color. It really completed our look. Color head to toe and everywhere in between!
They have cleaning stations that consisted of guys with leaf blowers blowing off the excess color dust. The kids got a kick out of that. We found a quiet spot to sit and have some water & snacks. Matt found a vendor selling giant donuts. Best donut I have had in a year. Hands down.
Once we got back to the car the kids changed clothes and we went over to the Harbour tTown Mall. I had to laugh at all the people that asked me if I did the Color Run. Mind you I didn't change my clothes and was literally blue down the back. It was a fun family day and I am sure we will do another one when we get the chance. EL was not a huge fan of the color part. She is looking forward to the Santa fun run. She keeps saying, "Santa run no color right?!"
