Roadtrip- Airlie Beach- Whitehaven

We decided to do a day cruise out to Whitehaven beach. It was nice to get out on the water. We stopped at Day Dream Island and switch boats there. Then off the Hamilton Island and finally out to Whitehaven. Because the beach is made up of 98% silica, doesn't get hot! It is great for cleaning jewelry and exfoliating your skin. The beach itself is protected so the water is nice and calm. It runs about 7.5 km long and there is nothing there but beach, plants and animals. 4 tons of the sand was hauled away a few years ago to make the Hubble Space telescope lens. It was the last time any sand was allowed to be removed. The Aussies deemed it a necessary evil. Hamilton island, which is just around the corner is actually leased. And the harbor has some amazing boats in it! While we were sitting on the beach, a private yacht pulled up. That's one to add to my bucket list.
