Crikey! We headed to the Australia Zoo. This is the zoo Steve Irwin started and has to be one of the best in Australia. I am so glad we got the family pass. The Vonk crew met us there and we appointed Chas as tour guide for the day. The morning was spent wandering from one area to the next. Trying to get the kids to all look in one direction for the occasional photo op.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a zoo keeper carrying a koala. We get in line for a photo and the lady wouldn't let us go until we got one with the koala facing us.
They have zoo keepers all over carrying animals & in a lot of the enclosures to answer any questions. EL loved the cassowary and watching them eat their fruit and vegetables.
After having lunch at the food court, Tour Guide Chad got us there before the rush ($1/ nuggets, hamburgers $15), we went to find our seats in the Crocoseum. Lucky for us, the Irwin family was there that day and we saw an amazing show. It was worth the price of admission. The birds were stunning and majestic. the stars of the show, the crocs, did not disappoint. Even from afar theirs size was impressive. Next we walked thru the kangaroo field and checked out the wetland birds. Tour Guide Chad informed us that we needed to get seats early for the tiger show and after should head to feed the elephants! yes, feed elephants. One of the coolest experiences by far. Getting into the zoo is not the cheapest venture but once inside there is very little that costs extra, in regards to the animals. Everyone was getting tired so we called it a day and headed home. Thanks again to KV for sharing her photos with us. All of the good ones are hers ;-)
That is AWESOME! I love that they can touch all the animals!
