Smiles

Just a few random moments that put a smile on my face.

Papa being a monster
Girls chatting like girls like to do
 Technology anyone?
Sweet EL
Family sports time
 One last sugar rush!

Puppy Love

Thankfully the neighbors really love us. The kids were always walking over 'helping' with something. We sure miss being close to them!
MA and her buddy Jet.

Home vs home

When you can't sleep at 2am your mind wanders to all sorts of thoughts. Our 1st night I laid there and thought about how overwhelmed I felt. Overwhelmed in a good way. So lucky. So happy. So many people here care about us and love our kids. We got back to my parents house and the kids barely got their bags inside before they were headed next door to say hi, see the new puppy, and raid the Kool-Aid stash. Later, Dan came over to give me a hug & a hard time because I didn't come over with the kids and say hi.
I know we've been gone a long while when MA says, "Look! There's a farm." from the airplane. And seeing roadkill brought about a lot of questions. Seeing deer and wild turkeys in the fields near Grandma and Papa's house.
Sitting on the deck, just hanging out feels so nice and relaxing.
We made a special stop at McDonald's for $1 drinks. Oh root beer how I have missed you! Nothing quite like a proper large fountain soda. The kids loved being able to get lemonade at all the restaurants.

Just 2 Planes Away

Our travels back to AUS went fine. Everyone was tired and sad to be leaving. EL managed to spill her orange juice on my pants and seat before we took off on the long flight. But that was really the worst of it. Everyone slept much better on the plane this time. Pure exhaustion. A lot of hours later we were back in Australia. We walked out of the airport and DB said, "It's cold!" time to dig the jumpers back out and catch a taxi home.
We unpacked, scrounged up some breakfast for everyone and I sent the kids off to school! 3 hours after we landed. Yep, best decision ever! I picked them up around 1pm. It really helped them stay away during the day. Plus they were excited to see their friends. The rest of the week was spent trying to get our bodies on the right awake/ sleep schedule. And back to regular ol' life.

I am Minnie

Friday, EL decided she wanted to be called Minnie. She was no longer EL. And should would correct you if you called her the wrong name. So now we have a Minnie. But for the sake of simplicity she will stay EL on the blog. But feel free to call her Minnie when you see her if you want a response.
We managed to get away for dinner with my parents Friday night to Jonah's. Then hit a couple bars downtown. Ran into some old friends while we were out.

DB and Papa went fishing for the afternoon. The rest of the crew went to softball games on Saturday before the Samps invited us out to see their new property and the start of their new house. Each kid got a go on the 4 wheeler. EL was the only the one brave enough to take a ride on the horses. MA is regretting not going for a ride now. DB could have stayed all night on the 4 wheelers. Papa was smoking steaks for dinner so we couldn't stay too long. Nicole and fam joined us for dinner. Then we sent Kara out for a DQ run. Hot summer night & cold ice cream- yes please.

Sunday was our last full day. Time flew by in the blink of an eye. Auntie Kat played some softball to start the day. Afterwards Matt and I did some last minute shopping and grabbed lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. I was extremely thankful for my parents who willingly got in a car with a screaming EL and told me to go away. We had Ohma and Ohpa over for dinner. Papa cooked ribs on the grill- Matt's request. They were delicious. One last DQ trip in the ice cream truck. Sparklers with the Hargis crew completed our day.

Monday it was time to pack our bags and say our 'Til Next Times. It was an amazing trip and hard to leave. All of us were going to have a hard time leaving. Luckily we had some great friends waiting for us back in AUS. 7 suitcases (none of which were even close to the weight limit), 5 backpacks, 1 carry on suitcase, & we were ready for the airport.

Boom! Boom!

The 4th of July we spent on the boat. It's been years since we have been able to do that. The weather was great. DB could hardly contain his smile the entire day. EL wasn't so sure about the loud boat but came around. Auntie K & K kept the kiddos entertained at the beach. The sound of the boat is one of those things that instantly relaxes me. DB & EL both took turns driving the boat with Papa.
We watched the fireworks show from the river. By far the best place to watch them. And Peoria always puts on one amazing show. BAKKK joined us. MA & K3 buddied right up and DB followed K2 where ever he went.
