We left Te Anau headed to Wanaka via Queenstown. Clear blue skies awaited us. Our plan was to get to Queenstown and check out a local winery then continue on. The drive was beautiful. So many lakes and mountains along the way. The camper van was a real treat on some of the hills. I had to not look several times. Driving through the valley with mountains on both sides was one photo opportunity after another. We drove along Lake Wakatipu to get to Queenstown. Seeing the ski areas, it would be amazing winter trip for sure!. We drove on the highest paved road in NZ, 3300ft. Our GPS took us up a very narrow and winding road. In the middle of a neighborhood overlooking Queenstown it told us we had arrived at the winery. GPS fail! But provided great views of the area. We plugged in another winery but when we arrived they were fully booked. Oh well, wasn't meant to be. On to Wanaka we went.
Maybe getting a little slap happy from so much time together in close quarters.
