Journey Up The River

We took the fam up to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary Wednesday. There is a nice boat cruise up the river and gives a bit of history & fun facts about Brisbane & the surrounding suburbs. My family likes any excuse to get on a boat. The weather was nice and warm and just a bit cloudy so it wasn't miserable to be in the sun. DB sat right outside the captain's door and watched him the entire ride.

Once to Lone Pine, we hiked up the pathway and started our tour of the animals. They have kindergarten koalas and retired koalas in their special areas. Then we went out the the kangaroo field. The emu greeted us at the gate & my mom, K&K got close enough for pictures with it. DB doesn't like walking thru the fields because, "There is poop everywhere!" EL wasn't too interested in the kangaroos, she was too hot, hungry & tired. MA had a blast going around with K&K to see the kangaroos. They even saw a couple joeys in their moms' pouches.

After lunch, Grandma, K, & K each held a koala & our 3 kiddos got to go up and pet them.

We finished up with the animals and it was time for the boat ride back to the city. The captain let DB & EL have a turn at the wheel. It was the highlight of the trip for DB for sure!!
